Cleveland-based Centers for Dialysis Care has named Richard Spech, MD, as its new chief medical officer. Spech has been serving as the interim CMO since the passing of Peter DeOreo in July 2016.

Spech has more than 25 years of medical experience, serving as a practicing nephrologist in Beachwood, Ohio. He currently practices at Nephrology & Hypertension Associates Inc. and is affiliated with University Richmond Heights., University Ahuja, and South Pointe hospitals. He graduated summa cum laude from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he also completed his medical residency. He did his nephrology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Spech is very familiar with the local Cleveland market, and is currently serving as the Medical Director for CDC Shaker, and CDC East. He was also a member of the CDC board of directors. He is a lifelong resident of Cleveland.

“We believe Dr. Spech is uniquely qualified to assist the CDC as we continue to grow into new communities,” said CEO Diane Wish. “He has the right balance of experience and relationships with the medical staff to ensure continued quality and value to our patients.”
