The Des Moines Register featured an article about the limited amount of inspections conducted on dialysis facilities in Iowa. Because Iowa does not license dialysis facilities, like many states, the state has no way of penalizing facilities that do not pass state inspections, which occur very rarely anyhow.
A spokesman at a clinic that received a very poor rating from state officials told the paper that the hospital welcomes inspections. "If we are not meeting all requirements, we want deficiencies to be pointed out to us," he said.
