Hazel Dennison, DNP, RN, APNc, CPHQ, CNE, of Medford, NJ, has been appointed Director of Education Services (DES) for the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association.

Dennison has worked in the nephrology nursing field for more than 25 years in a variety of roles and has been involved as an education leader and author for ANNA. She served as a member on the ANNA Continuing Education Approver Board for more than 10 years, and served as chair during her tenure. Dr. Dennison also wrote articles for the association’s official journal, Nephrology Nursing, and worked on several chapters in ANNA’s Nephrology Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice. In addition, she has developed education courses for the ANNA Online Library and has served as a valuable resource on topics that span both clinical and research areas.

Dennison received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Rutgers University in New Jersey.  She served as the Quality Improvement Administrator for the Trans-Atlantic Renal Council, where she oversaw the quality of care for dialysis patients. Dennison is also a member of the National Kidney Foundation, the New Jersey Nurse Educators Association, and a recipient of the 2010 ANNA Clinical Practice Grant.
Dr. Dennison will be administratively responsible for continuing nursing education activities, assist in planning ANNA’s Fall Meeting and Spring National Symposium, and help implement a variety of teaching strategies tailored to meet the learning needs of ANNA members. She will assume her new position on November 14, 2011, at ANNA’s National Office in Pitman, NJ.
