The Medical Education Institute Inc. is a winner in the VA Innovation Initiative's Industry Innovation Competition. MEI received the award to develop an interactive website that will help veterans learn about and manage chronic kidney disease.
"The VAi2 Industry Innovation Competition engages a wide variety of companies, non-profit organizations, and academic institutions," said VAi2 director Jonah Czerwinski. "The VAi2 team has worked extensively with the industry winners to design projects that leverage the best of industry innovation to improve the care that the VA delivers."
MEI will work with a team of VA kidney disease experts to address the pressing need for more—and better—CKD patient education for veterans. They will create an interactive, web-based learning program that will help veterans learn about risk factors for CKD, ways to slow the progression of the disease; how to self-manage their CKD treatment, and understand all the treatment options for kidney failure.
