CMS: 70% of facilities will keep full QIP payment for 2012

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services today released the first results for the new ESRD Quality Incentive Program. Nearly 70% of dialysis facilities that were evaluated under the program will receive no payment reduction in payment year 2012, while the remaining 30% will receive reductions ranging from 0.5% to 2% depending on their final performance scores.

CMS said it made the following payment reductions to dialysis facilities:

  • 16.6% of dialysis facilities will receive a 0.5% reduction
  • 6% will receive a 1% reduction
  • 7.7% will receive a 1.5% reduction
  • 0.6 % will receive a 2% reduction 

An additional 625 facilities (11.2% of all facilities) did not receive a Total Performance Score due to insufficient data. These facilities will not receive a payment reduction.
