The American Nephrology Nurses' Association is conducting a national study of patient safety culture in nephrology nurse practice settings. The organization is asking nurses to participate by filling out a 15-minute survey that is modeled after the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality patient safety culture surveys. The co-investigators for this study are Beth Ulrich, EdD, RN, FACHE, FAAN, and Tamara Kear, PhD, RN, CNS, CNN.

The survey asks for opinions about patient safety issues, medical errors, and event reporting, ANNA said in a release. There are a few questions that ask for demographic information (but not your name or employer), questions that apply to all nephrology nurse practice settings, and questions that apply to specific practice settings (outpatient hemodialysis units, hospital units, peritoneal dialysis units). Responses are confidential.

The deadline for responding to this survey is May 19, 2014. The results of the study will be discussed at ANNA's 2014 Fall Meeting and published in the Nephrology Nursing Journal.

The survey can be found here.
