Fresenius Medical Care reported net income of $294 million in the second quarter of 2016, up 22% compared to the same quarter last year. The company reported net revenue of $4,420 million, up 5% compared to the same quarter last year.

Fresenius Medical Care North America reported revenue of $3,168 million, up 8% from $2,946 million in the same quarter last year. Care coordination contributed $564 million (+21%), supported by considerable organic revenue growth of 17%. Dialysis care revenue contributed $2,374 million (+5%), driven by growth in dialysis treatments and increases in revenue per treatment,  the company said. Dialysis products revenue grew 2% to $230 million, due to increased product sales (especially machines and dialyzers).

Operating income for the North American division grew 20% to $513 million in the second quarter of 2016. Division recorded $352 in revenue per dialysis treatment and $282 in costs.

As of June 30, 2016, Fresenius Medical Care had 106,556 full-time employees worldwide, compared to 102,893 employees at the end of June 2015.
