Fresenius Medical Care North America has agreed to become the national presenting sponsor of the National Kidney Foundation’s Kidney Walk series and has announced a goal to raise $750,000 this year toward kidney disease research and support.

The NKF’s Kidney Walk series is fundraising event organized by local NKF affiliates and held around the country. The timing of the partnership coincides with recognition of March as National Kidney Month.

Last year, more than 3,700 Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA) employees joined company teams at 74 Kidney Walks across the country and raised nearly $300,000 – the most raised by a national team – and surpassed the $250,000 company goal, the NKF said. FMCNA aims to increase that contribution to $750,000 in 2018 through a $250,000 national presenting sponsorship, increased corporate outreach and participating again as a national team.

Since 2012, nearly 14,000 walkers from Fresenius Medical Care-affiliated teams have raised more than $1 million. Held in more than 100 communities, more than 85,000 walkers join NKF in raising more than $9 million each year to help patients and their families.
